Small things that add up
The last two updates were each one big feature: viewing spots for parades, then for fireworks. This one is a handful of smaller changes that landed over the past week, each one something beta testers asked for on the day. Together they give you more ways to change your day while you’re in the park.
The whole park on the map
Most of this week’s changes live in Do Something Else, the button on your current activity in the Live Guide for when you want to change course. Tap it and you get every alternative that’s live right now, with the walk and the wait from where you’re standing.
The map now shows every attraction in the park, whether it was originally in your plan or not. Tap a pin and Magic Carpet shows you how to fit it into your day.
Late in the day the list shows the full picture. An attraction that has closed, or a show that has had its last performance, stays visible and greyed out with the reason, Closed for today or No more showings today, in the list and on the map.
Pick your showtimes
In the planning phase, every show and parade with published times now lists those times right on the Attractions screen, as a row of times under its name. Tap the times (or the clock icon) and a picker opens where you turn individual showings on or off. Your plan attends one of the showings you kept. If none of them can be reached, the show stays out of your day and the rest of your plan carries on.
Two details worth knowing: if you hold a Lightning Lane for a show, the showing it gets you into is always kept, whatever you selected. And Do Something Else works from the whole day’s showtimes, not just what you picked during planning, so a spontaneous Festival of the Lion King is always on the table.
Lunch when you want it
Your planned breaks, meals, leaving the park, and free time, now show up in Do Something Else alongside the attractions. Each one is a card with the walk from where you are, the time it was planned for, and how long it takes. Tap it and that break moves to right now, and the rest of your day is rebuilt around it. It works under both toggles, Before and Instead of, and on the map, where any break with a place gets a pin.
Something to do after your last ride
When everything in your day is done and it’s still before your departure time (or park close), the Live Guide shows a Flex Time card with how much time you have left, with one button: Find Something to Do. It opens the same list you get during the day: whatever’s left from your list that can still fit, with the real walk and wait, plus the rest of the park under More attractions, where Calculate Fit checks any of them before you commit. Pick one and it’s added to your day.
Rafiki’s Planet Watch, more than once if you like
Animal Kingdom’s train-only corner has its own rules, and Do Something Else now follows them. While you’re over at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, the only things on offer are the ones there. Once you’ve ridden the Wildlife Express Train back out, anything at Rafiki’s Planet Watch that’s still on your list can be offered again, return train trip included.
As always, this is a beta: if you have feedback after using any of these, or an idea for what should come next, tell me through the beta feedback form. It genuinely shapes what gets built next.
